Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey

AdventureWorks is a Recognised Activity Provider for the Adventurous Journey section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award. We deliver reliable, safe, and well-organised events that inspire participants to carry on to the next level! All events are managed in accordance with our independently audited safety management system, and our qualified, enthusiastic instructors are experts at creating memorable experiences. ​Adventurous Journey Options

For all levels you must complete Training, Practice and Qualifying components.


BRONZE LEVEL

  • One day Bronze Training at our Avondale base
  • Two day Bronze Adventure can be used as a Practice Journey OR Qualifying Journey


 SILVER LEVEL

  • Two day Silver Training and Silver Practice Journey combined event in the bush
  • Three day Silver Journey can be used as a Silver Training and Silver Practice Journey OR Silver Qualifying Journey


 GOLD LEVEL

  • Two day Gold Training and Gold Practice Journey combined event in the bush
  • Four day Gold Qualifying Journey can go anywhere within 4 hours of Auckland
  • Five day epic Gold Qualifying Journey can go anywhere in the North Island!

How to use the booking calendar

  1. If this is your first time booking an event: Choose an event from the calendar, after you click it you will be directed to create an account and provide details.
  2. If you have made a booking before: Choose an event from the calendar, after you click it you will be directed to log in.

If you do not see events in our calendar that suit you, get in touch with us at dofe@adventureworks.co.nz and let us know what you need and when you need it. We are often organising other groups that do not appear on this calendar that you could join, or we could organise a specific event for you (we need a minimum of four, or eight for a private event).

​School Coordinators


We currently provide Training Days, Practices Journeys and Qualifying Journeys to a number of schools in the Auckland region. We are able to tailor our services to match the needs of your groups and offer a competitive rate.

We do our best to pick up as much as possible of the administrative, communication and planning work directly with your students. After you have let your students know about dates for an event all of the planning comes directly to us. If students are unable to attend an event that we have planned specifically for your school, they are able to attend our public events to stay up-to-date with the rest of the students.
